Blue Crab Community Fridge accepts and offers donations of fresh food 24/7. You can donate frozen or refrigerated produce, perishable items, or similar items to the fridge. The fridge is free food source available to the public 24/7.

Food donations to the community fridge are welcomed 24/7. The location of the fridge can be found behind the Franklin United Methodist Church at

Monetary Donations

Monetary donations to Blue Crab Community Fridge are greatly appreciated but not expected. There are no paid employees of this nonprofit organization. All donations go to maintenance/repairs of the fridge, cleaning supplies, overhead costs, filling the fridge, or other expenses.

Food Donation FAQs

    • whole fruits and vegetables

    • eggs and frozen meat

    • pre-packed non-potentially hazardous foods including baked goods

    • commercially packaged meals

  • Anyone! The fridge is available for public use. We operate under the motto “take what you want, leave what you can”.

  • All donations should list ingredients, package date, and allergens.

    Allergens include: eggs, dairy, shellfish, wheat/gluten, soy, and nuts

    • Do not take/consume any items that appear past its use-by date

    • Do not take/consume any items that smell off or appear suspicious.

    • Do not take/consume any item if you have an allergy (we cannot guarantee no cross contamination).

    • Do not take items from the fridge if the temperature appears to be abnormal.

  • Blue Crab Community Fridge makes every effort to safeguard the quality and freshness of food, as well as the maintenance and hygiene of the Community Fridge. However, we may not be able to guarantee all items donated to the fridge. This includes cross-contamination. Users take food at their own risk and Blue Crab Community fridge is not liable for any harm caused to the user of the fridge.
